Johan lives in Avelgem. He attends the art studio “De Zandberg” in Harelbeke. He is a quiet worker, but likes a joke too once in a while…
Johan works with a lot of concentration. With his face really close to his project.
He only uses the materials which are in stock, mostly pastel pencils, ballpoints and sometimes acrylic paint. With the few materials he uses, he knows exactly which colour combinations to make with it.
Johan just found a love for comic books, he uses little parts of the story for his works of art.
But the subjects family, castles, steak and fries feature in a lot of his pieces. But in the end it’s really hard for him to recognize his own subjects. He mixes them up, finally he will tell you something about the colours instead of the subject itself.
But the experience over and over again, is something he never forgets.

It’s best to look at his pieces autonomous and abstract. The process, getting somewhere at the end, that’s what Johan likes. And of course being in the spotlights.
