Simone van Hees
Sunset

Simone started her artistic career with a bit of hesitation. Her paintings, made with care, a small size and colours mixed with modesty. But time of carefulness is over. Her use of colours is eloquent and the size of her paintings much bigger. Trees and flowers feature a lot in her paintings. But sometimes she finds the challenge to pick a different subject.

“Her pieces are a mix of art and handcraft. With handcraft, rags are transformed to paper. Simone used the paper pulp to paint. The colours you see in the painting are the original colours of the cotton rags. Her interpretation of the theme ‘water’ is unique, because painting with paper pulp is actually done in water. The run over of colours she creates is really difficult if she had done this with acrylic paint.”
